Finding Nemo

Thailand. What an experience!

It's been only three weeks here, or already? Time goes so fast. I love Thailand. I love the food, people, smiles, work, team, diving, rain. It's been raining almost every day and storm light like every other day! I like the rain, it cools down a bit the hot weather and refreshes the air. The weather is hot already, and it's still not the high season. We'll die in February.

Thai people are nice. They are smiling all the time, and they serve. They serve and serve and serve. Fills up the glasses and asks all the time if everything is okay, always says hello or sawadekhaa/sawadekrop when you pass by. The land of smiles. The thai people have also this well known thai-english accent, which sometimes is reeeally difficult to understand. ''Solii, al juu okeiii? helouu, vats juur neiimm? hau aal juuu? nou hääääv, nou käään, soliii, khap khun khaaaaaa'' and numbers: ''siloou, waan, tuuu, tlee, fooo, faivv, siii, seveee, eiit, naiii, theeen'' I wonder how my english will be after this season, because you really need to start to talk like them, otherwise it will take so long time to get the information through.. most of the times at least. But haha, it's funny in one way. They are so fun to talk with!

The beginning of the season has been really nice and smooth. I've got plenty of time to study, every week something. Mostly diving, but also our really thai excursions with elephant trekking and wild monkeys. We have been studying the 4 Islands icluding Koh Mook and the emerald cave, Koh Ngai, Koh Ma. We went also one day trip to Koh Haa with awesome snorkeling, turtle and a lot of different kind of fishes and even barracudas! Today I was studying Phi Phi the Island, and also under water diving in all the way down to 12 meters (wuhuu deepest so far!) and snorkeling. I was swimming really close to a turtle and we saw even sharks when we were snorkeling. Awesome! You couldn't spend your days better. Study excursion, get to know new people and places. Sea, sun and boat. Oh god I love it!

It still feels like a miracle when I sometimes stop to think that I am really in Thailand, and going to spent the next 5 and half months here! I really like to go to a beach called ''Somewhere else'' by the long beach. It's cosy, good food, nice beach and even a jungle shower! Hammocks, small ''summer houses'' where you can sit, lay down, take a nap or read a book. I was half off yesterday in the morning and after the breakfast in German bakery (again as usual) I even had time to join the beach with some divers.
One evening I was walking home after work, and I just thought. Amazing! Somewhere behind the trees the wind brings the sound from the muslims when they have started their evening pray, on the left side you can hear the sea and the waves hitting the stones. Paradise.

Pineapple. My lover. Pineapple! I want more right now! I eat it everyday, and all the time I could have more. I'm totally hooked. Someone said that it's not so healty if you eat it too much. Nothing is healthy when you eat it too much. But then I change to mango. hahah, shakes, fruit plates, plain fruits... doesn't matter just bring it fresh!

But diving, oh I like it so much. The feeling under water, you are so small in this universe. And we know so little. There is millions of small creatures under there. But nemo is the cutest! It's so cute and tiny hiding in the corals. Saw plenty of them today! And tomorrow is time for Koh Haa again, this time diving, and not just snorkeling. It's the first dive of my Open Water diver's certificate. Finally!

It's amazing. Thailand is great.

Easy day, beach day

We drove to Klong Nin beach with Sara to check the market, but we had wrong info about the times so we didn't see it. Maybe next time.. Anyway we walked around and had a look on some shops. Not much open though yet, as the high season hasn't started yet. We ate sandwich lunches in Oasis Sunset, which was really nice, and quickly ran to the beach to feel the water. It was hothothot in the mainroad. On the beach, there is a light wind coming from the sea. Najs!

Back in Klong Dao  beach, near Chada, we joined the others to the beach, sunbathing, swimming and massages. I skipped the queue and went to the massage place next door. Afterwards I slept on the beach on my new lovely sarong for few hours. Doublenajs!

Coconutmilk revolution

Yesterday I had fallen in love with elephants. That day coconutmilk stole my heart.

When I was thinking of thaifood before arriving here, I was terrifyed because I knew they would use quite a lot coconutmilk in thai kitchen. I decided to try it again, maybe it's totally different here than back home. But I also decided silently in my mind I wouldn't start enjoying the taste of coconut. Well, then happened thai cooking lesson and I was lost. Anyway, I don't still like the pieces of dry coconut. Nope. (haven't tried here yet though...)

Paddling in the morning with the team, Annu as my partner, was a bit surprise to all of us. Would have maybe good if someone had told us that you need suncream and waterproof shoes for jeep safari. ''How is your jeep floating?'' And as a curse, our canoe just couldn't possibly go straight. Well, good exercise when we paddled at least double as much as the others, as siksak route is -as usually known- maybe not the shortest way..

Well because of cooking and eating the whole afternoon, we mostly skipped the dinner and took a massage instead. Also this time the footmassage and pedicure included neck and hand massage. While we waited the nailpolish to dry, one of the ladies brought the aloe vera and put it on all of us, as we were indeed a bit burned after paddling almost three hours in the middle of the day, ofcourse without suncream. Success!
